Ogun Police Arrests 50 Cult Members, 53 Others

ABEOKUTA: The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 50 members of the “Aiye” confraternity alongside other 53 other suspected criminals.

The suspects were arrested for various offences ranging from armed robbery, fakery, rape among others.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Kenneth Ebrimson, stated this on Thursday, July 9, 2020 while parading suspects at the state headquarters of the command in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Ebrimson said the suspected cultists met their waterloo while gathering to celebrate their yearly “7-7 day”.

The police also explained that nine of the suspects were arrested in Ifo, seven were arrested in Abeokuta while 26 were arrested in ijoko area of Ota in Ogun West Senatorial District.

Recovered from the suspects includes; one pump action gun, one locally made gun, two wooden based ball bats, assorted charms, diluted drinks and large number of vest with “7-7” inscriptions.

The Commissioner of Police however vowed to make the state too hot for criminals adding that he will stop at nothing until he make the state free of crimes and criminalities .
