The residents and indigenes of Irete community in Odogbolu Local Government area of the State have lauded efforts of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun in ensuring the resumption of Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE), and commencement of year 2019 academic session.
The commendation was given during the Irete Community Development Association (ICDA) meeting and visit to the institution’s facilities, as a follow up to the Governor’s pronouncement that the school be opened immediately.
Speaking with newsmen after the visit, the Chairman, Irete Community Development Association, Chief Olumide Adesanya expressed his appreciation to Governor Abiodun on behalf of the community for the positive development which he described as long overdue, saying, “contrary to the standpoint of the immediate past administration in the State who ordered that the school be closed down, for reasons best known to the then administration.”
Chief Adesanya noted that, “closure of the school had a negative consequence on the socio-economic life of the community as all the business activities in the area were stalled, thereby culminating in massive migration of its youths from the community to other viable locations nearby.”
He further affirmed that the pronouncement of the Governor has brought life back to the community and its environs.
Also speaking during the visit, another indigene of Irete community and a retired Permanent Secretary in the State Public Service,
Architect Leke Adenuga congratulated the State Governor and the people of the State for scoring another goal in the country’s educational sector, noting that since the closure of the institution, the State has suffered a great blow, especially in the area of economic and human capital development.
Architect Adenuga specially thanked Prince Dapo Abiodun for his ingenuity. He commended the committee, constituted to examine the state of affairs at TASCE for a job well done on the revamping of the tertiary education system in the State.
He commended efforts of the government at putting in place necessary facilities in the school which aided effective take-off of the new academic session at TASCE.
Other communities around Irete where the institution is located are, Omu, Jobore, Igbile, Ibido and Ala, all under the umbrella of Ajose community, further used the opportunity to appeal to the Governor to urgently help look into the situation of bad roads to ensure safety of lives in the area which has been their major challenge, especially now that the school has been reopened.
