As Muslim faithful across the country gathered to celebrate this year’s Eid-Ul-Fitir, the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun on Tuesday June 4, 2019 enjoined Muslim community in Ogun State to pray for the peace and tranquility of Nigria and to emulate the good virtue of Prophet Muhammed.
The Governor who congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the one-month compusory Ramadan fast stressed that for development to thrive in any nation, people must embrace peace, insisting that “We must focus on what binds us together”.
Abiodun in his felicitation message delivered by Hon. Salisu Shuaib at the Lantoro Muslim praying ground, Abeokuta, the State capital stressed that as Muslims have observed Ramadan, they should see the need to maintain a close relationship with God.
His words; “I call on you to emulate the good virtues and teachings of Prophet Mohammed. I would also like to appeal that we all see beyond artificial divisions including ethnic and religious differences in our society and adhere strictly to the teachings of the Holy Quran as propagated by the Holy Prophet Mohammed.
“Peace is essential to the development of any nation. We should all, therefore, continue to pray and work for the peace and unity of the nation. We should focus on the things that bind us together, and eschew the ones that are capable of dividing us.
“I felicitate with our dear Muslim brothers and sisters on this spiritual occasion as we join them to mark the end of Ramadan with Eid el Fitri celebration.I want to specially congratulate the entire Muslim community in Ogun State on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast”, he stressed.”
He continued, “The sacrifices you have all made during the holy month of Ramadan should draw everyone closer to the Almighty God. I enjoin all our Muslim brothers and sisters to draw enduring lessons from the holy month of Ramadan, which include personal sacrifices and self denial. I want to also use this medium to call on you all to emulate the good virtues and teachings of Prophet Mohammed.
“I would also like to appeal to our members of the Islamic faith to see beyond all artificial divisions including minor ethnic and religious differences in our society, and abide strictly with the teachings of the holy Qur’an as propagated by the Holy Prophet Mohammed.
“On behalf of my family, the good people and Government of Ogun State, I heartily felicitate and rejoice with all the citizens and residents of our dear state as we all celebrate Eid El Fitri.”
