Crisis Looms In  Ogun APC As Osoba, Yayi, Abiodun Set To Clash?

By Olasunkanmi Akinlotan

Palpable crisis is currently gathering momentum in the All Progressives Congress in Ogun state, most especially, among  the trio of the Governor-elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun ; former Governor of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba and the Lagos West, Senator Olamilekan Adeola popularly called Yayi.
The trio worked hand in glove to achieve success in the last elections  which produced   Abiodun.
But, the marriage of the trio  seems to have started going sour as they have  been reported  to have disagreement over appointments .
They also reportedly disagreed  on  2023 related issues and the development is said to have  begun to cause internal wrangling even at an higher pedestal.
PLATFORM TIMES had earlier reported the level of involvement of the national chairman of the party Com. Adams Oshiomole ; the vice- President,  Yemi Osinbajo, some Lagos political bigwigs and Chief Osoba in the appointment of commissioners.
PLATFORM TIMES further reported that  cumulatively, the submitted lists from the aforementioned political bigwigs had exceeded the number of required commissioners even when it has been decided that the number be increased from 18 to 20.
It was gathered that, Chief Osoba has started adhering to an agreement reached by some political lords both in Ogun and Lagos states  prior to the election, that Senator Yayi will be the governorship candidate of the party in the state in 2023.
And expectedly, the  Governor-elect is said not to be happy with the ugly development .
A source close to the Governor-elect hinted PLATFORM TIMES that many stakeholders  in the party including decampees are not happy with what he called an ‘over bearing influence’ of the former governor over appointments and decision of who the House of Assembly speaker should be.
The source further explained that the APC structure in the state has initially agreed on who to occupy some leadership positions  in the 9th House of Assembly .
But, it was said  that, Chief Osoba is allegedly  blocking the chances of the present deputy speaker, Hon. Kunle Oluomo from becoming the Speaker of House, tagging him as a ‘late returnee’ .
Against the chances of Oluomo, the former governor is said to be currently backing the member representing Odeda state constituency Hon Elemide Oludaisi.
According to the source,  the Governor-elect might fight against the former governor  action .
Chief Osoba  was reported to be  ‘tossing Abiodun  around’ in his  manner of leadership.
The source said ,” Chief Osoba will just order the Governor-elect to appear in Lagos for a meeting in his private residence.
The source who is always conspicuously seen with the Governor-elect mimicked the former governor saying, baba will just say, – “Woo! Wo! governor, ani meeting ni eko which means (see,  Mr governor, we have a meeting in Lagos).”
He also stressed that Chief Osoba, is all out to compensate every returnee of the Social Democratic Party, who decamped with him prior to the 2015 general elections.
Despite all the moves of the former Governor, the source added that Abiodun has not uttered any statement against the interest of Chief Osoba even when his wants in some cases are questionable.
