COVID-19: YSLG Boss, Fagbenro, Takes Sensitization Campaign To Markets,Distributes PPE To LG Health Facilities

ILARO-YEWA: As part of measures to curb spread of the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic in his local government area, the Chairman, Transition Committee of Yewa South Local Government, Alhaji Rahmon Fagbenro has led members of the Emergency Response And Preparedness Committee of the L.G, on a sensitization and awareness campaign to the popular Sayedero market in the ancient city of Ilaro.

The committee which included the Medical Officer of Health; Dr. Olalekan Oke, Medical/Environmental Health Officers, Information Personnel and other Principal Officers in the Local, were all out to sensitize the people on how to prevent the spread of COVID-19, through certain basic personal hygiene, such as regular hand washing with soap and running water, use of hand sanitizers, non-touching of eyes, nose and mouth, as well as drinking hot water.

Alhaji Fagbenro, while addressing the people in the markets on the importance of social distancing, in order to reduce spread of the deadly infectious disease, through body contacts, according to the Chairman, necessitated the introduction of  lockdown for two weeks, as announced by the Ogun State Government, starting from Friday, April 3, 2020.

The Chairman, therefore, urged the people to shun non essential travels and visits, even before the lockdown effective date, in order not to endanger their lives, the loved ones and others, by being exposed to the coronavirus disease.

The chairman, finally disclosed the distribution of basic hand washing and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), in all the primary health care facilities and the Secretariat complex of the Local Government on Thursday, while fumigation of the LG Secretariat and other places would commence from Wednesday, April 1, 2020, as further measures to curtail the spread of the dreaded coronavirus menace.
