ILARO-YEWA: It has been twenty five years of God’s grace and faithfulness for us in this group. Twenty five years of challenges, risks and uncertainties. A period of frantic efforts for the emancipation of Yewaland from political deprivation, educational starvation, infrastructural bankruptcy and economic underdevelopment in general. It has been twenty five years of struggle against segregation divisibility, unnecessary dichotomy, sectional disunity and neglect.
On the other hand, it has been twenty-five (25) years of uncommon courage from the small beginning of about eight (8) people from length and breadth of Yewaland (formerly Egbadoland) to the present membership of over fifty (50) eminent personalities still waxing stronger with laudable achievements, some of which are highlighted in the brief history of YTT presented here. It is the doing of the Almighty God and it is marvellous in our sight.
It is on this note that I respectfully welcome all our esteemed guests, friends and well-wishers as well as our members to today’s epoch making celebration. We are grateful to God Almighty who has kept this body together for over twenty-five (25) years now. A lot of challenges have confronted us in the period under review but the grace of God and the determination of members have kept us resolute at forging ahead.
With the support of the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, our respected traditional rulers and elders, we have been able to weather the storms successfully and here today waxing strong to the glory of God.
A number of our members, along the line, have answered the call of God.They stand immortalized in our hearts as some of them were publicly honoured post humously during our 20th year anniversary celebrations. Today, some others along with some other living heroes and heroines of our land shall be duly recognized and honoured while others will likewise be recognized in our future events. This mode of recognition shall be a continuous exercise to appreciate our people and encourage them to do more towards achieving the vision of our great Association (YTT) which is total development of Yewaland.
Our distinguished guests and friends, I want to thank you again for finding time to honour our invitation and using your resources to identify with our vision here today and always.
On behalf of the entire membership of Yewa Think Tank (YTT), I heartily welcome you all to this historic event and I am happy you are part of the history being made here today. I wish you the best of times here today and very safe journey back to your respective destinations at the end of the programme.
