The out-going Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun on Tuesday May 28, 2019 made good his vow, made some months ago that he would not hand over to the Governor-elect, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun as the Owu-born Chartered Accountant asked his childhood friend, Barr. Taiwo Adeoluwa, who is also the out-going Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to do the handing over ceremony.
Shortly after Amosun finally left his Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta office at exactly 3:17 pm, after inspecting the Guard of Hounour the handing over later took place at the office of the SSG at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Many people, perceived to be Amosun’s loyalists who were present at the Governor’s Office could not hold their high emotions as they burst into uncontrollable tears, while the outgoing governor bade them farewell.
Represented by the out-going SSG Adeoluwa, Amosun handed over documents containing information about the affairs of the State to the Deputy Governor-elect, Engr. (Mrs.) Noimot Salako-Oyedele who received the documents on behalf of the Governo-elect, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun.
The Deputy Governor-elect congratulated Amosun for successful completion of his eight-year tenure.
Her words: ”I will like to congratulate Amosun on successful completion of his eight years in office. I acknowledge that a lot has been done in the state and as you all know that government is continum, a pledge by Dapo Abiodun is that the people of Ogun State will continue to enjoy the government”
On the uncompleted projects, Salako-Oyedele said, ”We promise that all ucompleted projects will be reviewed because we know people desire good government and we pledge that our administration will be a fair and equitable to everyone.”
She continued, “We thank the people of Ogun State for coming out to witness the handing over ceremony from the government of the outgoing governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun to the new governor’s team, Prince Dapo Abiodun”
”We had our meeting two weeks ago on the transition committee and that meeting was to assure that this event will take place today, we want to thank you all that you have kept the promise and we have collected the documents today”
”I will like to congratulate you all on the successful completion of your 8years in office, and I acknowledge that a lot has been done in the state and as you all know that government is continuum, a pledge by Dapo Abiodun is that the people of Ogun State will continue to enjoy the government and the uncompleted projects will be reviewed. People desire good government and we pledge that our government will be a fair, equitable and just one,” she stressed.
Immediately he left his Oke-Mosan office, Amosun embarked on a Thank You Visit to Abeokuta Metropolis where he was given warm applause at many of the major roads in the metropolis.
