AYETORO – Residents of Yewa-North Local Government have commended Ogun State government for adopting waste to wealth initiative, as a way of ensuring that wastes emanating from houses and public places were converted to useful industrial and household items.
According to a release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l magazine & www.startrendinternational.com by Lateef Akintunde, ZIO, Ayetoro, the commendation came as Community Development Associations in the area commenced routine drainage evacuation exercise, to allow free flow of water during rainfall.
The Chairman, Oke-Ola Community Development Association, Mr. Joseph Akinremi, said the step became necessary to collaborate State government’s efforts at ensuring safety of lives and property of citizens.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Emado Community Development Association, Ayetoro, Chief Opeyemi Opebiyi, his counterpart in Aibo Community, Ayetoro, Elder Kunle Ogundele, while appreciating government for putting in place measure towards promoting healthy and clean environment, pleaded government on dredging of streams and rivers in the area, to pave way for water during rainfall and prevent flooding.
Contributing, Iyaloja of Ayetoro, Mrs. Ajoke Jayeola thanked governments at all levels for taking proactive steps to prevent future recurrence of flooding in the State, pledging continued cooperation of market women to government’s regulation on waste management.
