Wike Slams Governor Fubara, Accusing Him of Betrayal Following Electoral Support

Former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has once again expressed disappointment in his assistance to Siminalayi Fubara in attaining the governorship position in the oil-rich state.

Addressing a gathering of supporters in Port Harcourt last weekend, Wike lamented that Governor Fubara had demonstrated significant pretense and misled him into supporting his gubernatorial aspirations.

Wike’s relationship with his successor, Governor Fubara, has been strained for several months, with reconciliation seeming distant.

Venting his frustrations, Wike remarked, “You (Fubara) advocated against the independence of State Assembly members, yet now you seek independence yourself. Carry on with your independence. Continue safeguarding Nigerian democracy. Regardless of their actions, whether they pursue legal routes within the state’s courts, let them proceed. We won’t be intimidated.”

Continuing his address, Wike criticized the perceived ingratitude of the governor and his administration: “They engage in thanksgiving ceremonies everyday. They were fortunate they didn’t reveal their intentions earlier. After securing victories for them – from polling units to tribunals, and even to the court of appeal—they now challenge us at the Supreme Court. It’s outrageous! This is how they extort money from others. They’ve even appointed a judicial consultant. Shame on them, shame, shame, shame.”
