Reflecting on your new role as the Elder/Otun Iya Ijo of the United African Methodist Church, Ilaro Circuit, what are your thoughts?

My journey began when I was installed as Osi Iya Ijo in 2012, later progressing to Otun Iya Ijo in 2019. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the official installation ceremony was postponed until 2024.

Can you elaborate on your responsibilities within the Church?

Over the years, I’ve held various significant roles within the Church, earning recognition at the National level. I previously served as the Assistant Secretary of the Leading Committee and currently hold the position of Senior Society Steward.

Also, since 2007, I’ve been fulfilling the role of Assistant Secretary to the Women Fellowship of the United African Methodist Church Organization, both locally and internationally.

What can the Church anticipate from you and your fellow members?

With God’s guidance, I am committed to fulfilling my duties to the best of my abilities.

What message do you have for the youth and the entire congregation?

As the ‘Amona Odo’ (Guiding Light) of the Youth in my Church and the Patroness of the Ogun Youth Group of Circuits, I encourage them to uphold good character, remain steadfast in their faith in God and themselves, prioritize their studies or work, and maintain a reverent fear of God.

Could you provide a brief profile of Chief (Mrs.) Adunni Onifade, the Elder/Otun Iya Ijo of United African Methodist Church, Ilaro Circuit?

I remain Chief (Mrs.) Adunni Onifade, with the baptismal name ‘NOELINE.’ I hail from a family of six, where I am the only female child. Initially born into a Muslim family, I embraced Christianity through marriage. I dedicated my professional life to teaching, eventually retiring from that career path.
