Skill Acquisition: Ijebu-Ode LG Empowers 2,000 Youths

JEBU-ODE – No fewer than 2,000 youths have successfully completed skill acquisition training programme in different vocations initiated by Necessary Measures Against Poverty and Perversity (NEMAPP), a Non-Government Organisation in collaboration with the authority of Ijebu-Ode Local Government.

In his welcome Address, at the graduation ceremony, Transition Chairman, Engr. Olugbenga Olugbile said the training programme which stretched for over two weeks has undoubtedly impacted profitable skills into all the participants.

“Every Training session throughout this programme went beyond theoretical aspect. Everyone was allowed to practicalize gained experience each time they have the opportunity. And this has given me a great joy and confidence that all participants are employers of labour in the making”, he said.

Olugbile advised the beneficiaries to put the knowledge gained to use so as to earn income and cater for themselves and their immediate families.

Lending his voice to Olugbile’s, the Chairman Governor Advisory Council Committee, Pa Oluneye Okuboyejo said knowledge gained can only be fruitful, if it is put to work, saying setting up of business with their skills would go a long way at making them financially independent.

He commended Engr Olugbenga Olugbile-led administration in Ijebu-Ode for collaborating with NEMAPP to organise the empowerment programme, advising other local government authorities to emulate such.

One of the beneficiaries, Miss Ore-Oluwa Adekoya, said the empowerment given to them would go a long way at helping them become self employed and financially stable.
