IBADAN – The umbrella body of all Sports journalists, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN),Oyo State chapter under the leadership of Mr. Niyi Alebiosu is putting together a two in one event to mark its Day.
In a release signed by the Secretary of the Association, Tijani Adewale, the Oyo SWAN Day which will come up on Friday, December 18, 2020 will feature a lecture and a football match.
Tijani said that the lecture which will hold at the Dapo Aderogba Hall at the NUJ Press Centre Iyaganku, Ibadan, will be delivered by the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Absolute Success Travels, a.k.a Ufitfly – Evangelist Ajibola Ogunkeyede.
He said further that Evangelist Ogunkeyede’s lecture which is titled: “Tourism and Sports: The Needed Synergy” is holding at 10am and will be attended by cream of the society.
Secretary, Oyo SWAN stated further that the dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include Honourable Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Asiwaju Seun Fakorede, the Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Cultures and Tourism, Honourable Akeem Ige, as well as the Chairman of the Oyo State Sports Council, Honourable Gbenga Adewusi Arole, General Manager,Oyo State Sports Council and the CEO Kayrom Lee Gym and Fitness Centre Ambassador Romoke Ayinde among others.
The Royal Father of the Day is His Royal Majesty Oba Olatunde Oginni while the Chief Host will be the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists Oyo State Chapter, Comrade Ademola Babalola.
Second leg of the twin event is a friendly football match between the Oyo SWAN Football team and their Ogun State counterparts which will hold at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan.
The display of soccer artistry by the Pacesetter SWAN and their Gateway counterparts will be watched by dignitaries including a Royal Father who also doubles as the State Chairman of Oyo State Football Association Oba James Odeniran, while Hon.Biodun Ikumogunniyi will be the Special Guest of Honour.
The Chairman State Athletics Association, Dr Isaac Friday Ogada with a former Chairman of Oyo SWAN, Mr Femi Okenla are also expected to be in attendance as well as ex-football internationals and major sports stakeholders.
The colourful friendly football match kicks off at 4pm.
