OGSG Empowers Another 500 Women, Urges Women To Make Judicious Use Of Empowerment Items

ABEOKUTA: In its bid to improve the standard of living of its citizens, the Ogun State Government, in partnership with Eko Supreme Foods Limited, Agbara, has empowered another 500 women in the State.

According to a release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l magazine & www.startrendinternational.com by Oluwaseun Boye, Press Officer, Office of the Deputy Governor, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, who performed the symbolic presentation in her office in Abeokuta, to representatives of each Senatorial District, said the gesture was one of the empowerment programmes of the State Government to encourage women to be entrepreneurs.

Engr. Salako-Oyedele said government had looked beyond empowerment and involved financial institutions for access to loans, so that beneficiaries could improve their financial status through their businesses.

While urging the women to make judicious use of the empowerment items to improve their businesses, the Ogun Deputy governor assured that government had liaised with the company to supply the products to their respective shops.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Consultant to the Governor on Commerce and Industry, Ms Sola Arobieke, stated that the empowerment programme was put together as part of the present administration’s gesture to ensure residents enjoy more dividends of democracy.

In his goodwill message, the General Manager Finance, Eko Supreme Resources Limited, Mr. Toyin Elefontuyi, who expressed satisfaction with the Dapo Abiodun-led administration’s development plan, commended the State government for its various initiatives aimed at addressing the plight of women through various empowerment programmes.

In their separate remarks, the National Vice President, National Association of Micro Finance Bank, Mr. Joshua Ukute and the representative of Gateway Mortgage Bank, Mr. Kola Yekini, lauded the State Government’s empowerment programmes which was aimed at empowering the lower class, especially the women.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Princess Olushola Victoria and Mrs. Sonubi Rukayat, appreciated the State Government for keeping to its electioneering promises, while praying that the current administration would achieve greater heights.
