ILARO-YEWA – has been donated by the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba (Dr) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, MFR, (Asade Agunloye IV) on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, donated a beautiful edifice, comprising classrooms and offices to the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, to commemorate his 9th year coronation anniversary.
According to the monarch, the initiative to donate the building was aimed to encourage Yewa indigenes towards contributing meaningfully to the development of Yewaland.
Oba Olugbenle added that in some other climes, it is the indigenes who invested in the development of their roots and I hereby urged Yewa sons and daughters, both at home and in the Diaspora to heed this clarion call in making Yewaland a beauty place to behold.
He noted that, gone are the days when indigenes run away from home for fear of being killed by the witches and wizards, stressing that “modern day witches and wizards no dey drink blood again ó, na milo and milk dem dey drink”.
In his speech at the commissioning, the Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Arc. Olusegun Aluko, Ph.D said he was not surprised by Oba Olugbenle’s gestures towards the institution, saying, the monarch has from the onset taken the FPI as his and has thus been very supportive to the polytechnic.
The commissioning was graced by creme of the society, including Ogun state government’s presence among a host of others.
Representative of the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Hon. Afolabi Afuape, who is also the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs was full of praises to Oba Olugbenle stressing the support and appreciation of the state government for the monarch.
The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), was adequately represented by both the National and states officers led by their National President, Esv (Sir) Emma Osas Wike.
The Rector, Gateway Polytechnic, Engr. (Dr) Funke Akinkurolere represented Ogun State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu while the Commissioners for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Toyin Taiwo, Budget and Planning, Hon. Olaolu Olabimtan, former Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos, Prof. Rahman Bello among others were physically present at the ceremony.
List of traditional rulers, Principal officers, Deans and Directors, Heads of Departments in the Polytechnic and other important dignitaries in attendance is endless to witness the four-parts commissioning of the project handled by Mr Kunle Adebiyi, a Director at MTN, who stood in for the Foundation; Oba Yisa Sola Adeniyi Olaniyan, Onipokia of Ipokia representing the Kabiyesis, Esv. Sir Emma Osas Wike, representing NIESV, and Hon. Afolabi Afuape, representing Ogun State Governor.
The Public Relations Unit, on behalf of the Rector, management, staff and students of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro expressed their appreciation to the monarch for this gesture and congratulate His Royal Majesty, Oba Esv. (Dr.) Kehinde Gbadewole Olugbenle, Mfr. the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland on the occasion of his 9th Coronation Anniversary, saying, “Kaabiesi o, Kade pẹ lórí, kí bàtà pẹ lẹsẹ, ẹṣin ọba aa joko pẹ, pẹ, pẹ”.
Earlier in the day, Oba Olugbenle had performed the land breaking and foundation laying of block of hostels he donated to the School of Nursing, Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State.
