ABEOKUTA – The Regent of Iwoye town, Chief Adewale Adesina, fondly called Wale Saranda, has expressed his gratitude and that of the people of Iwoye in Yewa South Local Government to the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his unflinching support towards installing the right person as Oniwoye of Iwoyeland.
Chief Adesina stated this in his speech at the installation and presentation of staff of office to the newly crowned Oniwoye of Iwoyeland, Oba Makinde Ololade Buhari on Friday, December 4, 2020.
His words, “We sincerely appreciate God for helping us to achieve this feat after ten years.
“We thank His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun for his unflinching support. He took a decision and does not even know the great impact of what he has done for us, he has brought joy to our town.
“We have been on this for ten years having politicians playing on our intelligence, but Prince Dapo Abiodun, in cooperation with the State Executive Council approved a King for us in Iwoye. We are indeed very happy for the kind gesture. May God continue to guide and protect them all”.
Chief Adesina, who is also the Babalaje of Ilaro however debunked the rumours that he was after the stool and that he wanted to illegally increase the number of ruling houses in Iwoye.
Hear him, “My family is not interested in the throne, after all, Adesina family is not qualified to be one of the ruling houses in Iwoye. “I’m not after all these, I want to be a business model to the young ones.
“I will never be part of altering the history of Iwoye. This town has contributed to our uplift. I could remember vividly that I used to trek from this town to school at Ilaro.
“Instead of giving back to Iwoye, it will be foolishness of me to embark on adding or subtracting from Iwoye tradition.”
He continued, “I have only stand on my late mother’s protocol; no retreat, no surrender on preserving justice. My mother was brave, she detested injustice. That was what my mother stood for.
“We have been on this Obaship tussle since ten years ago. We have lost a lot of vibrant individuals with great potential to the struggle.
“I don’t belong to where they perpetrate wrongdoing. It’s the people who are in wants that tilts toward wrong set of people. Such people are out to manipulate situations to service their ulterior motives”.
“From inception, I have been Adele but today, I have transferred POWER. That is what makes a man. No retreat, no surrender. I have surrendered power to the new and legally installed King not to miscreants”, Chief Adesina stated.
Advising the newly crowned Oba Buhari Makinde, the Babaloja of Yewaland, Chief Adesina said, “My piece of advice to Kabiyesi is that he should do his best to unite the people.
“He should do his best to preserve and promote the culture and tradition of Iwoyeland, and also strive to turn around this town, positively.
“I want to also use this opportunity to urge the people and most especially, the youths of this town to support the new monarch and also go about their businesses without any fear or rancour.”
