Four Cult Members Arrested In Ogun

ABEOKUTA: The Ogun State Police Command on June 12, 2019 said it has arrested four suspected members of the dreaded Eiye confraternity in Iwesi, Ijebu-Ode while planning to carry out a violent attack in the area.

The suspects include 22-year-old Tunde Olabinjo ,28-year-old Raheem Ibrahim , Tawaq Azeez, 31 and Bisoye Ajayi (name withheld).

A release by the Command’s Spokesperson, Abimbola Opeyemi indicated that the arrest followed an intelligent information received by the Command that the cult group were holding a meeting  in a hideout located in the area where they were conspiring to carry out a deadly attack in the area.

“On receiving the information”, Abimbola stated “The Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama gave a marching order to the Officer- in-charge of Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS), Tijani Mohammed to move into the area in order to nip in the bud the planned attack.”

Oyeyemi added “In compliance with the Commissioner’s directive, a team of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) stormed the hideout where four members of the group were apprehended.”

Exhibit  recovered from the suspects were; One cut to size single barrel gun, one locally made pistol and one battle axe.

The statement further indicated that the arrested suspects have all confessed to be  members of the   cult group, adding that they were planning to launch an attack on a rival cult group within Ijebu-Ode before they were arrested.

The Commissioner has ordered a serious manhunt for other members of the group in order to bring them to book.
