For the records: I’m Comforted With Strong Culture Of Efficiency Entrenched In Our State By Gov. Amosun -BOT

BEING REMARKS MADE BY BARR. BIYI OTEGBEYE ON THE OCCASION OF HIS VISIT TO THE STATE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC) AT THE PARTY SECRETARIAT, ABEOKUTA, ON THURSDAY, AUGUST 16, 2018.

Members of the State Working Committee of our party
Other members of the State Executive Committee of our party,
Members of the BOT Support Group present here with us,
Ladies and gentlemen,

I am highly honoured and privileged to be in your midst today for this important visit. I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the Chairman of our party for granting our request for this visitation. This would no doubt provide a veritable opportunity for interaction and cross fertilisation of ideas thereby helping to move our party forward.

Let me observe that since the coming on board of this Exco after our peaceful State Congress on 19th May 2018, the Chairman of our party and the entire members of the State Exco have been able to manage the affairs of the party with the commitment, wisdom, and discipline that are desirable for the building of a strong and virile political party. We are grateful to Almighty God who has endowed our party with men and women of substance and good character in these challenging times as we prepare for the next general elections in 2019.

While congratulating you for the progress made so far, especially in the areas of membership growth, unity and discipline, I should point out that this progress is worthy of emulation by other chapters of our great party throughout our Country, Nigeria.
Gentlemen and ladies, it is no longer news that the State Exco of our great party has rightly zoned the governorship ticket of our party to Ogun West Senatorial District in the next dispensation. We from that axis of our state are encouraged by this decision and have followed with keen interest how the leadership of the party has remained unwavering in its resolve to ensure equity, justice and fair play in the political space of our State. I am also happy that the leadership of the party is determined to provide a level playing ground for all contestants.

I am proud to inform you that like the other Senatorial districts the good people of Ogun West are inspired, determined and united to massively vote the APC in the forthcoming election irrespective of who may emerge from amongst the aspirants from Ogun West Senatorial District.

Let me stress that the diversity of our rich culture and values in the Yewa-Awori axis of our state as reflected in the number of eminently qualified aspirants who have shown interest in the top position should not be mistaken for disunity but a common resolve of the Ogun West Senatorial district to give this state the best leadership in the next dispensation for the common good of our people.
At this juncture, permit me to acknowledge and salute the outstanding and unprecedented achievements of this administration very ably led by His Excellency, the Governor of our state Senator Ibikunle Amosun. FCA, CON.

The clearly defined mission of His Excellency to rebuild the entire landscape and values of our state as well his dogged pursuit of excellence in it’s implementation (the mantra “Ogun Standard”) is a complete success story.

Positive and irreversible transformation is widely acknowledged by all (including sceptics) in the areas of:
*Affordable Qualitative Education
* Efficient Health Care Delivery
* Agricultural Production and Industrialisation
* Affordable Housing and Urban Renewal
* Rural and Infrastructural Development/Employment Generation

In the coming years, the achievements and legacy of this administration must be sustained and developed through quality leadership, discipline and commitment of all stakeholders.
Continuity indeed is the bedrock of nation building.

With every sense of responsibility and after much prayers, preparation and wide Consultations, I wish to formally inform the party of my decision to offer myself for the service of the good people of Ogun State in the capacity of the Executive Governor come 2019.

I am not unmindful of the enormous challenges of moving our State to the next level in the coming years but I am comforted with the strong fundamentals, and the culture of efficiency already entrenched in the governance of our state by our energetic leader, Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

Finally, I hereby solicit for your support and prayers in the coming days as we prepare for the primaries that will elect our party’s candidate for 2019 governorship election.
