IMEKO: A 30-year-old man, Solomon Ogundetu has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for defiling his 12-year-old daughter (name undisclosed).
One Alhaji Obamuyiwa Semiu had reported at Imeko Divisional headquarters of Ogun State Police Command that the victim who is primary school pupil complained bitterly to one of her teachers that her father had been having carnal knowledge of her since last year.
She said her father also threatened to kill her if she dare relate the incident to anybody.
A statement by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi in Abeokuta on Tuesday October 15, 2019, indicated that when the victim could no longer bear it, she had to inform her teacher who promptly informed the Alhaji.
Having received the report, the District Police Officer (DPO), Imeko Division, CSP Monday Unuigbe detailed his detectives to the suspect’s house where he was promptly arrested.
After an indepth interrogation, the suspect who is a driver confessed to the commission of the crime.
Investigation revealed that he has divorced the mother of the girl for some years and the girl is the only product of the union.
The victim has been taken to General Hospital for medical care and report.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama has ordered the transfer of the suspect to Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
