ABEOKUTA: Hon. Ayodeji Michael Shomide, the transition chairman of Abeokuta South Local Government, has instructed traders displaying goods and wares along roadsides and walkways to vacate immediately.
According to a press release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l magazine & www.startrendinternational.com by Kolawole Sodeinde, Abeokuta South Local Government, the chairman, who described activities of the traders as dangerous to lives gave the matching order during enforcement of the weekly market sanitation exercise carried out by the Local government.
Speaking on the attack on the Local Government officials, Hon. Shomide said that, those who attacked environmental health officers on duty shall be dealt with as the matter had been reported to the police so as to serve as a deterrent to others.
Hon. Somide, however, dispel the rumors going round that he has banned all forms of transactions at the June 12 market, saying that, his administration will continue to enhance commercial activities in the Local Government area, while safety of lives shall remain paramount to his government.
