ILARO-YEWA: The Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle (MFR) has charged the Transition Chairman of Yewa South Local Government, Alhaji Ramon Olabode Fegbenro and his team not to rely only on markets for the council’s Internal Generated Revenue (IGR), but instead look inward to generate income for the growth and development of the area.

Oba Olugbenle who gave the charge on Thursday, January 23, 2020 while paying host to the Caretaker Chairman and the management of the local council in his palace at Ilaro, implored them to look into waste management which according to him could generate good money for the council and at the same time empower many people, especially the youths of the area.

The Paramount Ruler advised the Chairman to liaise with the authority of the State Ministry of Environment towards smooth and effective implementation of the said waste disposal management.

According to him, “I don’t want us to limit our Internal Generated Revenue to market alone. We should think out of the box; example of what I’m saying is looking into waste disposal management which you can use to empower our people, especially the youths and at the same time generate income for the council.

“People make good money from the waste management in Lagos, so if you take it serious, I tell you that you will generate good IGR from it”.

The monarch who described the Chairman as a humble and soft spoken person, implored him to always work with the fear of God and endeavour to carry his team and staff along in the day to day activities of the council.

His words, “I used to call Chairman of Yewa South Local Government “Paramount Chairman” because, Ilaro/Yewa South is the head of Ogun West just as Abeokuta is the capital of Ogun State. It’s God design and there is nothing anybody can do about it.

“I thank God for the peaceful atmosphere in Yewaland and Ogun State at large. It was God that place you in this position. I therefore urge you to lead and govern the Local Government with fear of God and never allow any human being to take the place of God in your life.

“I am very sure that with God, you will not fail and I pray that He will continue to be your strength”.

Oba Olugbenle also implored the Chairman to endeavor to give adequate support to cultural events of the area, most especially the Oronna Ilaro Festival and others in the local government area, with a call to always accord the traditional rulers their due respect and seek their advice for effective governing of the council.

Speaking earlier, the transition Chairman, Alhaji Rahmon Olabode Fagbenro who appreciated the Paramount Ruler for been father to the people of Yewaland, assured that his administration would do her best to put smiles on the faces of citizens of the council.

Alhaji Fagbenro implored the first class monarch to please accord his administration the necessary assistance, especially given advice that would help them achieve success in their new assignment.

His words, “You are our father and father to all citizens of Yewaland. We want you to please guide us and give us adequate and necessary advice whenever the need arise.

“God will continue to be with you and give you more wisdom to lead us right and Yewaland will continue to progress”.
