One of the newly inaugurated members of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Abeokuta State Constituency 1, Hon. Yusuf Temitope Adejojo has promised the people of his constituency of effective and efficient representation.
Hon. Adejojo said this at a reception organized in his honour after the swearing-in of members of the Ogun state 5th House of Assembly on Monday, June 10, 2019 at the Governor’s Office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
According to him, “we have been in war-war since the struggle started and it is high time we begin to jaw-jaw. Our jaw-jaw moment is the time to begin to garnish our political ideologies and movement through retrospect, matching all our political words, inform of political manifestos to concrete actions, for it is said that to whom much is given, much is equally expected.
“Also, action speaks louder than words. I do not want to be a talking Honourable but a performing Honourable with ears to the ground, listening to what my people have to say, and promptly addressing totheir issues of concerns as they emerge.
“This moment is the beginning of robust intellectual discussions on how best to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people and redeem the years that “political cankerworms and caterpillars have eaten” through insensitive and self-serving legislations”.
The lawmaker who was full of joy thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for signing into law “not to young to rule bill” and leaders of the All Progressive Congress Party which according to him, encouraged him to participated in the last general election that saw him emerged as a member of Ogun State House of Assembly, representing Abeokuta South State Constituency 1.
Adejojo stated further; “This movement will see to the unity and inclusiveness of all stakeholders because “a tree cannot make a forest; a house divided against itself cannot last while a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand”.
“It is a moment for selfless and masses-driven legislative journey which promises to be mutually benefiting, accoding to the late political sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo who said: “those placed in the position of leadership must be prepared to grasp to the nettle if we unite in doing so, and if, in addition, we set a worthy example and a Marat on pace in probity, unselfishness, and self sacrifice, the people will follow us, all too readily, in our footsteps”. Methinks this is a food for thought for the new crops of politicians, of which I am an integral part.
“In setting the pace for the huge and daunting responsibilities ahead of us, this movement will make advocacy, enlightenment and education our core legislative watchwords. According to Nelson Mandela who posited that education is the most powerful weapon which one can use to change the world. I have come to the convinced conclusion that the people whose mandate I humbly represent should not and cannot be alienated from the political scheme of things on the ground that without the electorates, my mandate to represent them is null and void”, he said.
He promised to always keep his people abreast of happenings and events in the government, especially those that will have direct positive impacts on their general wellbeing.
Adejojo further reassured people of his constituency of his determination to effectively implement his five cardinal objectives which include; grassroots development, better education, accessibility to the people, provision of social amenities, and empowerment of the people.
Speaking earlier, a former member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Allen Tailor advised Hon. Adejojo to remain loyal to the party, Speaker of the House and party leaders.
While urging him to endeavor to influence good projects that would make life meaningful to the people of his constituency, Tailor advised that, the newly inaugurated lawmaker should as a matter of importance keep records of all his activities in office most, especially projects implemented as a member of the State Assembly.
