IBADAN – As promised in part two of the above-titled series, here is part three, the final part in the series.
Ten years ago, in November 2012, the KSA FESTIVAL 2012, was celebrated here in Nigeria and abroad. It was a hugely-successful programme. Thank God.
Following closely on the heels of the 2012 Festival was the maiden “PERSONALITY COLLOQUIM” ever staged by the INSTITUTE OF AFRICAN STUDIES of Nigeria’s first university, the UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN, on 14th February, 2013, at the university’s old Conference Centre.
Juju music icon, Otunba (Dr) Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, MFR, alias “King Sunny Ade” (KSA), was the first person to be so honoured by UI, as part of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of UI ‘s Institute of African Studies.
The immediate past Ooni of Ife, the late Oba Okunade Sijuwade, CFR, Olubuse 11, chaired the record breaking event.
My humble self, Senior Chief ‘Lekan Alabi, Maye Olubadan of Ibadanland (then the Ikolaba Olubadan) and the first Culture Ambassador of the National Museum and Monuments, Ile Ife, was invited to deliver a paper titled: “THE KSA I KNOW” at the prestigious ceremony.
Dear reader, I hereby conclude my series on how the world celebrated KSA FESTIVAL 2012, a decade ago.
Long live KSA, the King of World Beats.
Thank you.
