ABEOKUTA – Community leaders in Ogun state have cried out to the government over poor electricity supply, demanding Governor Dapo Abiodun’s timely intervention.

The Chairman, Community Development Committee of Opeji community in Abeokuta-North of the state, Cheif Adeoye Adekunle, decried the total darkness in his community due to lack of transformer to generate power.

Adekunle who spoke to Journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital on Monday, November 16, 2020 explained that some developments being witnessed in Opeji community were through the intervention of community members who were worried about the poor state of the community and not the government.

Some of the things he said members of the community had put in place without government intervention were; security outposts, rural water supply amongst others.

The Chairman, who lauded Governor Dapo Abiodun’s effort to develop the state, appealed to the state government to extend the development projects going on across the state to his community.

His words, “We have been doing many things in the community by ourselves like building of security posts, electrification and rural water supply among others. We appeal to the government to try harder in terms of road construction and rehabilitation. Most of our communities are in darkness, we need transformer”
