Obey Court’s Judgement: Ogun Former Political Functionaries Appeal To Gov DAPO Abiodun

ABEOKUTA – The forum of former Local Government Political Office Holders of Ogun State who served between 2004-2007 under Gov Gbenga Daniel’s administration have appealed the present administration of Gov. Prince Dapo Abiodunt to honour judgement of the National Industrial Court, Ibadan to pay their overdue entitlements.

This was contained in a release singed by the forum Chairman, Hon Afolabi Olaniran and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta.

Hon. Olaniran described Gov Abiodun’s continued disobedience and disregard to court order and justice system administration as contempt of Court.

According to him, the court injuction by Justice Opetoye Ogunbowale, delivered on 23rd October 2019, ordered Ogun State Government under Gov Dapo Abiodun to pay the Claimants, who are former LG Political Functionaries in the State, the sum of #578million which was admitted that the State Government owed the Claimants.

Olaniran said despite several reminder letters on the non payment of the judgement debit in suit number NICN/IB/92/2016, Ogun State Government has failed to obey the court’s judgement.

The release also made reference to Counsel to the forum, Barrister Kunle Ishola who quoted Justice Ogunbowale’s rule in his judgement, saying, “As a result, it is hereby ordered as follows: that the defendants jointly and severally should pay the Claimants the sum of #578,615,046:03 which they admitted sum be paid from joint Local Government Account of Ogun States. That the sum be paid within 30 days from today 23rd October, 2019.”

He lamented that out of about 483 of his members who served their Fatherland meritoriously between 2004-2007, some had died untimely, due to harsh economic conditions.
