SAGAMU: The Chairman of Ogun state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Emmanuel Bankole, and members of the Nigeria Labour-Civil Society Situation Room Team, Ogun state, recently carried out the sensitisation exercise of market men and women, on the need to adhere strictly to the various preventive/precautionary measures against the spread of Coronavirus disease, at the Awolowo market, in Sagamu Local government Area.
According to a press release e-signed by and made available to StarTrend Int’l magazine & www.startrendinternational.com by Mrs. Fakorede Kafayat, Information officer II, Sagamu local govt., while addressing the people in the market, the Chairman, Nigeria Medical Association, (NMA), Ogun State Chapter, Dr. Ismail Lawal, apart from frowning at the non-compliance to the various COVID-19 preventive health measures, in the market, despite the rigorous and widespread State/Local/rural publicity and sensitization, re-emphasized the reality of the existence of Coronavirus, and the importance of face masks, hand washing with soap and observing physical distancing, in the curb of the spread of covid-19, in the market and elsewhere, in the local government area.
Mrs. Aishat Osilesi, the Iyaloja of Awolowo Market, in her response, while expressing the total support of her members, pleaded on behalf of those that failed to obey the COVID-19 health instructions, with a promise of immediate change in attitude, towards a better friendly health environmental conditions.
She, thereafter, expressed her gratitude to the team, for their efforts to prevent the spread of covid-19 in Sagamu local government area, pledging the total support of the Awolowo Market leaders to the eradication of Coronavirus, in the local government area.
The Team later paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman, Sagamu Local Government Transition Committee, Hon. Olugbenga Banjo, in his office, at Ayepe Road, Sagamu, with words of encouragement and support towards the Committee activities and goals.
Present at the event were; NLC chairman, Sagamu local government branch, Comrade Adeyemi Adeleye and Chairman NAMS (National Association of Medical Staff), Comrade Funmilayo Solarin among others.
