Shomide Felicitates With Children, Despite COVID-19 Threat

ABEOKUTA: The Chairman, Transition Committee, Abeokuta South Local Government, Hon. Ayodeji Michael Shomide, has felicitated with children in the Local Government Area, on the celebration of this year Children’s Day, despite the effects of Coronavirus pandemic on the socio-economic and educational lives of the people.

According to a press release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l magazine & www.startrendinternational.com by Sodeinde Kolawole, Information Officer, Abk South LG., in his message to the children, Hon. Shomide charged them to be humble and diligent in their studies/activities, and be good Ambassadors to the LG and the society,

Hon. Shomide, explained that Children’s Day Celebration was adopted and established by the United Nations General Assembly, (UNGA). in 1954, and it’s being celebrated on May 27, each year, in order to create the awareness, improve the welfare and promote International togetherness, among the children, worldwide.

The LG boss, therefore, counseled the children, living in the Local Government area, to always shun all elements of social vices that could tarnish and soil their family names, as future leaders.

Shomide, however, charged parents, teachers, civil societies, activists, religious/community leaders, corporate organisations, media practitioners, as well as children themselves, to continue to play important role, in making the World Children Day remarkable, in all countries.

The Chairman, finally urged everyone to always stay safe and be hygienic, at this trying period of COVID-19 pandemic.
