ILARO-YEWA – Stakeholders of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ijebu Central have endorsed Governor Dapo Abiodun-for another term, urging him to seek reelection in 2023.
Deputy Chairman of the party in Ogun State, Chief James Dina who moved the motion for the endorsement, following the approval of the executive committees of APC across the Ijebu Central Federal constituency, revealed that the endorsement became necessary following the governor’s sterling performance.
Some of the leaders who endorsed Abiodun for second term, include Party Chairmen in Odogbolu Local Government Area, Mr Akogun Muyiwa Idowu, Hon. Adekunle Aromolate (Ijebu-Ode) and Hon.Wale Omowunmi (Ijebu-North East).
Others are the elected councils’ chairmen, such as Hon. Foluso Badejo from Ijebu- North East, Hon.Shuaib Adebayo Ladejobi, Odogbolu, as well as the Leader of the House, Ijebu-Ode Legislative, Hon. Adesola Ogundairo who represented the Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government.
Also in attendance are the Chairman of Governor’s Advisory Council in the State, Pa. Oluneye Okuboyejo, a former member of the House of Representatives in the Second Republic, Hon. Abiodun Olukoya, Elder in the Governor’s Advisory Council, Pa Kalejaiye, South West Leader of the party Alhaja (Mrs.) and Yetunde Shakirat Adesanya amongst other notable leaders, also endorsed Governor Dapo Abiodun for another term.
Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Special Duties & Inter-governmental Affairs, Barr. Femi Ogunbanwo, described the endorsement as affirmation of the performance of the Governor Abiodun after the review of his close to three years tenure in office, looking at where the state was before May 29, 2019, and what is it now
Ogunbanwo who is also seeking the blessings of the party’s leaders to contest for the Ijebu-Central Federal Constituency seat in 2023, added that the people of the Federal Constituency had spoken with one voice to support the governor for second term for the continuation of what he described as good performance in terms of the spread of infrastructure across the state
“We look at where we were before as at 2019, and where we are today, hence the people have come together with one voice, that the Governor should continue beyond 2023. The essence of our coming together is to review the performance of the Governor which had informed his adoption for the 2nd term,” Ogunbanwo said.
He further said his ambition to become a member of the House of Representative, to represent Ijebu Central Federal Constituency was borne out of his passion to serve his people, disclosing that his ambition is in the hands of God even as he awaits the decision of the leaders after consultation with the Governor.
On his part, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape said Governor Abiodun has touched every Local Government in the state with one or two projects, saying Ijebu Ode-Epe road construction and other ongoing projects across the Twenty Local Government Areas of the state were an attestation of performance and affirmation of the statement – “promise made, promise kept.”
