ABUJA – The Borno State born Zanna Mohammed Ibrahim (mni), has been appointed as Nigeria’s new Inspector General of Police.
According to a report, Ibrahim who was the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) and immediate Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy Wudil, Kano state succeeded former IGP Muhammed Adamu whose tenure in service ended on Monday, February 1, 2021.
A professional and experienced police officer, Zanna was posted to the troubled North-Western State of Zamfara in January 2019 as Commissioner of Police before he was promoted and posted to Kano.
Zanna Ibrahim who was born on November 26, 1962 obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Master’s degree in International Relations and Strategic Studies, both from the University of Jos, Plateau State.
The Borno State born super corp was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force, on March 15, 1988. On successful completion of his training at the Nigeria Police Academy Annex, Kaduna, Zanna was posted to Borno State Police Command, where he had a one year compulsory attachment at Biu Divisional Police Headquarters.
He later served in various Commands and formations across the country.
As a proficient and astute investigator, Zanna Mohammed Ibrahim, was appointed a member of the presdential Investigation team on “crude oil theft” in Nigeria which was set up during the former President Goodluck E. Jonathan administration.
