ILARO-YEWA, OGYewa Youth Association Hosts Ramadan Lecture, Donates Items To Inmates At Nigerian Correctional ServiceUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Yewa Youth Association, in partnership with the Muslim Community of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ilaro Custodian Centre, on Saturday, April 6, 2024,  hosted a Special Ramadan lecture at the Ilaro Custodian Centre in Ilaro-Yewa.

The event served as a platform for both education and philanthropy, as it included a lecture alongside a charitable initiative to support inmates through the donation of essential items.

The highlight of the event was a thought-provoking lecture themed: “Coping with Today’s Child: Islamic View” delivered by Alhaji Imam Dauda Sulaimon Opeyemi. The lecture focused on themes of parenting, forgiveness, community service, and spiritual growth, resonating deeply with the diverse audience present, particularly young inmates of the Custodian Centre.

Before the lecture, the Yewa Youth Association demonstrated their commitment to humanitarian services by presenting a generous donation of essential items to the inmates of the correctional facility. The Association also contributed to a fundraising exercise targeted at a welfare activity in the facility.

In his address, the President, Yewa Youth Association, Comr. Abduljabar Ayelaagbe, expressed gratitude to all attendees and emphasized the importance of community engagement, and support to young people as the backbone of Nation developments.

He used the opportunity to outline the vision of Yewa Youth Association and projects executed so far, to the admiration of the attendees as reflected in their comments thereafter.

Members of YYA present observed that the Ilaro Correctional Centre houses over 800 inmates with a significant percentage less than 30 years. This particular concern led to a short meeting among members present. The Association is currently considering all intervention options to address this tragic waste of human resources.
