OWODE-YEWA: The Chairman; Transition Committee of Yewa South Local Government, Alhaji Ramon Fagbenro, has given the directive for the evacuation of heaps of refuse at the Owode market, in Owode-Yewa axis of the L.G area, Ogun State.
According to a press release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l magazine & www.startrendinternational.com by Aregbesola Tunde, Information Officer, Yewa South Local Government, the heaps of refuse have always been a disheartening site, to behold, for decades, with the accompanying health hazards to the people. .
Alhaji. Fagbenro who is committed to the safety of the people towards an ideal and cleaner environment, disclosed that many past administrations tried to find solutions to the social/Environmental malaise, without success, adding that his administration would employ every possible means to resolve the issue, for better conducive environment.
The Supervising Officer for the evacuation process, who is equally the Director of Water and Environmental Sanitation Department of the Local Government, Sanitarian Fayeshile Julius, gave the assurance that the clearing and evacuation would be completed in the coming days, in compliance with the mandate given by the chairman.
He explained that the Local Government was already considering alternative ways of waste disposal for the residents of the area.
Alhaji. Fagbenro, while on inspection tour to the site, urged the market women and traders to shun indiscriminate dumping of waste in the market, for a safe, conducive and healthy business environment.
