AYETORO-YEWA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – The Chairman of Yewa North Local Government, Dr. Olusola Akinbode, has expressed gratitude to Dangote Cement Company for its commitment to fulfilling Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and contributing to grassroots development.
This follows the company’s support in efforts to restore electricity to over 21 communities that have endured three years of blackout due to electrical infrastructure challenges.
Dr. Akinbode made the commendation during the handover ceremony of power restoration materials held at the Dangote Police Post, Ibese.
He urged host communities to continue their support and cooperation with the company to ensure the successful implementation of development initiatives in the area.
Represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Olumide Ilori, the council boss emphasized that the local government had been strategizing to restore electricity to the affected communities.
He noted that the intervention from Dangote Cement would significantly complement the council’s efforts to deliver the dividends of democracy at the grassroots level.
Hon. Rasaq Ogungbe, Special Adviser to the Chairman on Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, and the Councillor representing Imasai Ward, commended the gesture.
They described the initiative as a positive development that would strengthen the relationship between the company and the local residents. They further advocated for more partnerships to enhance socio-economic wellbeing in the region.
In their separate remarks, traditional rulers including the Olu of Imasai, Oba Lukumon Kuoye; the Alademeso of Igan Alade, Oba Gabriel Olalowo; and the Onijoun of Ijoun, Oba Gabriel Ogunji, thanked the management of Dangote Cement for the intervention.
They noted that the support would fast-track the reconnection of their communities to the national electricity grid.
The Head of Social Performance at the Dangote Ibese Plant, Mr. Ademola Ojolowo, welcomed dignitaries to the event and presented the materials to representatives of the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).
The items handed over for immediate installation included 9,750 meters of Aluminium Conductor Steel-Reinforced (ACSR) cable and 18 High Tension (HT) poles.
Other materials were 75 pieces of Pot Insulator, 40 9ft U Channel, 12 33KV Silicon, 40 33KV Tie straps and among others.
Other Traditional Rulers present were, Aboro of Iboro, Oba Gabriel Salako, Onijale-Ketu, Oba Bisiriru Oyero, Aboro of Ibese land, Oba Rotimi Mulero, Olowode of Owode, Oba Olusola Fabuyi, Onimoto of Imoto, Oba Gabriel Ogunyomi and representatives of Baale from the areas.
Other dignitaries were a Member of the House of Assembly representing Isokan State Constituency, Hon Adeyanju Awoso, Legislative Council and Executive Members from Yewa North and many others.
