Yewa Monarchs Shower Encomium On Oba Olugbenle, Applaud Recreation Club, Ilaro Members

ILARO-YEWA – Oba (Dr) Kehinde Olugbenle, the Olu of Ilaro & Paramount Ruler of Yewaland has been described as a unifying factor in the region.

The commendation came in the evening of Thursday, July 1, 2022 by the Olu of Imasayi, Oba Lukmon Kuoye, the Oniwoye of Iwoye-Yewa, Oba Buhari Ololade Makinde and the Oloja of Oja-Odan-Yewa, Oba Oyebanji Olowobese Ilagba 1 when the trio paid an unscheduled visit to the Recreation Club, Ilaro-Yewa (RCI).

Oba Kuoye and his colleagues who spoke glowingly about Oba Olugbenle also commended the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, for his quest towards uniting the people of Yewaland as one indivisible entity.

They prayed God continue to give Oba Olugbenle more knowledge and wisdom to steer the ship of Yewaland in good health and long life.

Oba Kuoye also described members of the foremost club in Yewaland – Recreation Club, Ilaro-Yewa as respecters of culture and tradition.

The traditional ruler said he has been in love with the club, even before his installation because of the moral and financial support accorded him during his tenure as the officer in-charge of the NIN office at Ilaro-Yewa.

His words, “I want to express my appreciation to Chief Shafarudeen Popoola for the support he accorded to the NIN office in Ilaro-Yewa with some items that enhanced the performance of our responsibilities to the community.

“My contact with other members of the RCI in different ways sincerely convinced me that the club is populated by reliable and loving Nigerians, and I have no doubt in associating with the club.”

The Oniwoye of Iwoye-Yewa, Oba Buhari Makinde in his contribution noted that he has heard a lot of good news about the club before becoming a king.

Oba Makinde who went down the memory lane on how he was also related to Ilaro-Yewa called on members of the club to continue preaching the spirit of oneness in Yewaland.

The Oloja of Oja-Odan-Yewa, Oba Oyebanji Olowobese in his comment said as a former student of Egbado (Yewa) College, Ilaro-Yewa, he was aware of RCI and clouts of its members within and outside Yewaland.

Oba Olowobese, who also spoke on behalf of his colleagues acknowledged the honour accorded them when they arrived at the clubhouse without giving members any prior notice of the visit.

“Honestly, members of the RCI have demonstrated the true quality of Omoluwabi that Yoruba people are known for.

“The rousing welcome given us and the scintillating reception that spoiled us within a very short period of our arrival at the clubhouse will for a while linger in our memory”, the youngest monarch in Yewaland enthused.

Oba Olowobese, however assured the club of their support anytime needed, saying, “we’re looking forward to receiving members of the Executive of RCI at any convenient period at our respective domain”.

Earlier in his welcome address, the immediate past president of the club, Chief Shafarudeen Popoola, the Bobatolu of Ilaro-Yewa thanked the monarchs for the visit despite their tight schedules.

Chief Popoola disclosed that members of the club have been contributing to the development of Ilaro-Yewa and Ogun West in general through their respective endeavours.

He noted that despite their service to the nation and Ogun State before some members of the club retired, “we are still contributing to the upliftment of our community in various ways.”

The club’s Vice President, Mr. Tajudeen Adeagbo who on behalf of the President – Pastor Wale Olaode officially welcomed the traditional rulers to the clubhouse expressed members’ gratitude to the monarchs for their love and spirit of oneness.

Mr. Adeagbo prayed for the monarchs continued peaceful and tranquility reign in their respective domain.

Contributing, the Otun Baaroyin of Ilaro-Yewa, Otunba AbuSatar Idowu Hamed described the monarchs’ visit as surprising and commendable.

Otunba AbuSatar Hamed who is also the Director of Media & Strategy for the club posited that the club has not in recent time received at-a-go three royal fathers as they did that evening.

He noted that the visit would go down in the history of the reputed club, saying, “we are looking forward to receiving our royal fathers in the club as an encouragement to boost our contribution to the society.

“This type of surprise visit by our royal fathers always serves as an encouragement towards the development of our communities.”

In his short comment, one of the former presidents of the club Alhaji Lamidi Elegbede also thanked the monarchs for the visit, and talked about the efforts of individuals including Hon. Isiaq Akinlade who facilitated the computer section in the club, Alhaji Ibrahim Egungbohun built and equipped a Table-Tennis Hall for members sport exercises and Senator Solomon Adeola presented a brand new Mikano electricity generating system to the club.
