The human element inherent in us, often, makes us to look at issues from the subjective…instead of the objective viewpoints…emotion/sentiment…instead of the reality on ground…and hatred/love…instead of the issues involved.
Sometimes, the right thing may be spoken in the wrong way…and the wrong in the right way…which the first emerged online video clip, depicted…in the conducts of both Minister Wike, and Officer Yerima…judging by the later emerged beyond the surface facts of laws, surrounding the contentious issue.
However…in order not to major in the minors, as a people…but the realities on ground…we need to look, deeply, into the overwhelming implications/infractions of both acts on our democratic journey, norms, and value-system, vis-a-vis not having strong leaders…but strong democratic institutions…against the misuse of our law enforcement agencies – The police, Civil defense, Customs, DSS, NDLEA, etc, and our Armed Forces – The Army, Navy, and Air force…in civil matters…as glaringly displayed by both Minister Wike, and the retired Naval officer who gave the order to officer Yerima.
Our courts, and other institutions of adjudication should, always, be the last resort, indeed.
