Recent revelations have shed light on the meticulous preparations made by the late Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, Herbert Wigwe, for his death.
It has been disclosed that he constructed a mausoleum for himself prior to his tragic death.
Wigwe, along with his wife, Chizoba, and son, Chizi, perished in a helicopter crash in California, United States, on February 9, 2024. Their burial is slated to take place between March 4 and 10, 2024.
The mausoleum designated for Wigwe’s burial is situated within the premises of Wigwe International University in Isikpo, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Reflecting his foresight, the mausoleum boasts remarkable opulence, befitting of a billionaire.
A pathway of stamped concrete bordered by lush greenery leads to the splendid final resting place of the Wigwe family.
The mausoleum comprises three tombs crafted from state-of-the-art Italian Carara marble and adorned with exquisite granite finishes.
Inscribed on the mausoleum’s facade are the words: “Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
This transparent private cemetery serves as a poignant reminder that Wigwe’s legacy of wealth extends even beyond his lifetime.
As preparations for the burial draw attention, the expansive grounds of Wigwe International University stand out as a testament to his vision.
It was scooped that, the construction of the university prioritized local labour, with 60% sourced from Rivers State, 20% from Isiokpo, and the remaining 20% from across Nigeria.
Wigwe’s proactive measures, including the establishment of a private cemetery preceding the university’s development, underscore his ambitious aspirations.
While his untimely demise has left uncertainties about the realization of his visions, his legacy as a visionary and detribalized leader remains indelible.
