ABUJA – President Bola Tinubu has retracted the nomination of Engr. Imam Kashim Imam as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).
This decision was communicated in a statement signed electronically and provided to the media by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity).
Engr. Imam, who is 24 years old, was initially appointed on October 13, 2023, by the President for a renewable term of four (4) years, in accordance with Section 2(3) of the FERMA Amendment Act, 2007.
This appointment had sparked concerns, with many expressing doubts about his suitability for the position due to his perceived lack of experience.
In response to the public outcry, presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale announced on Thursday, October 19, 2023 that the withdrawal of Imam’s nomination is effective immediately.
Although the statement did not provide specific reasons for this decision, it clarified that all other appointments to the Board and Executive Management team of FERMA remain unaffected by this directive.
