ABEOKUTA – The gubernatorial candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC,), Barrister Biyi Otegbeye has outlined the reasons why ordinary people in Ogun State have shown untainted love for Senator Ibikunle Amosun who has championed his campaign to be elected as the governor in Saturday’s Governorship Election.
According a press release e-signed and made available to StarTrend Int’l magazine and online – www.startrendinternational.com by Wole Elegbede, Special Media Aide, BOT Media Office, Otegbeye spoke during a lively interaction with journalists at the Secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council, Iwe Irohin, Abeokuta on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.
Describing Senator Amosun as his leader and mentor, the ADC Governorship contestant said he has been hugely blessed by his endorsement and support.
“For anyone to succeed and excel in any profession including journalism, he must have leaders and mentors to look up to”, stated Otegbeye.
“In 2015, when I was running for Senate, I was completely naive. I didn’t understand the environment, and was not properly tutored and guided by the Masters. But this time I’ve been wiser for it because I’ve been in politics for ten years plus. I am still a baby literally because some people have been in it for a lifetime. But I find Senator Ibikunle Amosun exceptional”.
According to Otegbeye, the three reasons which make Senator Amosun stand out are his commitment to God, his love for the ordinary people and perfect understanding of Ogun State’s political environment.
He stated that Amosun’s love for them has earned him unpolluted love in return, and that this will translate into votes for his candidacy in Saturday’s Governorship election by ordinary people who make up 82% of Ogun State populace.
Speaking earlier, Ogun Council NUJ Chairman, Wale Olanrewaju lamented that Ogun State journalists have not been accorded a rightful place in the scheme of things by Ogun State Government unlike other states where they have been appointed as commissioners and members of boards of parastatals.
