Why I Converted to Islam – Burna Boy

Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has opened up about his conversion to Islam, describing it as the result of a long and personal search for truth and inner peace.

Speaking during a recent livestream chat with American streamerPlaqueBoyMax, Burna Boy explained that his spiritual awakening came after years of questioning, study, and deep reflection.

“I was born into Christianity because that’s what my parents believed. But as I got older, I started researching more about life and faith, and that was when I found Islam. It just gave me peace”, he said.

The City Boys hitmaker revealed that prayer has become a central part of his life, adding, “Whenever I pray, I feel like I’m heard. Sometimes, I get answers so quickly that it shocks me.”

Burna Boy emphasized that his decision was deeply personal and not influenced by fame or trends. “I’ve studied so much, but the more I learn, the more I realize there’s still so much to discover”, he noted.

His revelation has since stirred widespread reactions across social media, with many fans praising his honesty and courage, while others reflected on how faith continues to shape the lives of African music icons.
