SOKOTO, NIGERIA – The Federal Government has instructed major cement producers, including Dangote and BUA, to revert to previous price levels amid recent price increases.
According to Minister of Works, Dave Umahi. Umahi conveyed this directive following an inspection of the BUA cement factory in Sokoto.
He emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s insistence on returning to previous pricing for the benefit of the ordinary citizens.
Umahi encouraged compliance with the President’s directive to facilitate extensive housing programmes and the government’s agenda for concrete road construction.
Accompanied by Aminu Tambuwal, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Housing, Umahi praised BUA’s dedication and affirmed confidence in the quality of its products, aligning with governmental objectives.
He also highlighted the government’s plan to construct a 372-kilometer dual carriageway from Zaria to Sokoto, with the initial phase utilizing asphalt and subsequent sections employing concrete.
Tambuwal underscored the vital role of cement production in the housing sector, lauding the collaboration between the government and BUA Cement and its potential to bolster affordable housing initiatives, addressing the country’s housing deficit.
