LAGOS – The Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Wessy Group, Otunba Wasiu Jayeola Taiwo, has expressed his gratitude to the management of StarTrend Int’l magazine for the honour bestowed on him during the 10th anniversary of the media outfit.
Wessy Creations as he is fondly called stated this at the 10th Anniversary Lecture & Awards of StarTrend Int’l magazine which took place on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at the Excellence Hotel, Ogba, Lagos.
He was honoured in recognition of his contributions to the socio-economic development of Nigeria, especially in the area of fashion/style and youth empowerment.
Represented by his Manager – Mr. Fakunle at the event, the President of Nigeria Tailoring Association (NTA) commended Elhadj AbuSatar Idowu Hamed, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of StarTrend Intl magazine for his resilience and commitment towards educating, informing and entertaining the society through his medium.
The renowned fashion designer urged journalists to always feed the public with that brings joy and happiness, advising that they should not heat up the polity in their daily reportage.
Wessy Creation who is fashionista to many dignitaries within and outside Nigeria called on the 3 tier of government to always assist journalists, the fourth estate of the realm in their quest to inform, educate and entertain the society.
He assured as he has been doing to continue to offer support to members of the pen profession, advising they shouldn’t allow fake journalists in their midst to kill fake news in the society.
Otunba Wasiu Taiwo who rose from grass to grace through a profession he loves with a high taste for creativity and astuteness was honoured along with others with the StarTrend Gold Award of Excellence for his outstanding contributions to the socio-economic development of Nigeria and youth empowerment.
Many are born great, some achieved greatness through luck, while a good number of people achieved greatness through selfless service, hard work and divine blessing.
The young Wasiu’s humble beginning started at Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government of Ogun State in the early sixties where he was born to the Late Chief Tiamiyu Ayinde Taiwo and the Late Alhaja Amudatu Mojirade Alake Taiwo.
A fashion designer of international repute, a kind hearted philanthropist, young and charming Otunba Taiwo is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Continental Suites – a luxury hotel of unparalleled standard based in Ibara, the heart of Abeokuta, Chicken Continental and Continental Bread in Ilaro, Wessy Creations Nigeria Limited and he is the Proprietor of Wessy Tailoring & Vocational Institute in Abeokuta.
His popular creative fashion outfit ‘Wessy Creations’ is patronised by eminent personalities here in Nigeria and Nigerians in diaspora. Notable amongst are former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Vice President of Nigeria, former Senate Presidents, former and current state Governors, notable monarchs, the late Chief MKO Abiola, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Alhaji AbdulSalami Abubakar, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Pastor E. A. Adeboye and many other outstanding personalities of great repute.
With his profound and thoughtful creativity and impeccable styles, Wessy as he is fondly called has grown to be one of the top bespoke Tailors in the tailoring industry, not only in Nigeria, but most sought after from high net-worth individuals and corporate entities that is so attractive in the US, UK, Jamaica, etc based clients who love taste and class.
As a result of this unique and exceptional design, it had earned him recognition globally through invitations to participate at world class exhibitions shows; the Global Artisan Show, Las Vegas U S A 2015, Source Africa Trade Event 2015, in Cape Town, South Africa, to mention just a few.
After his primary and modern school education, he established the Wessy Creations in 1979, with the business headquarters at Ibadan then. He later relocated to Abeokuta from where he went places designing for notable Nigerians within and outside the country.
Otunba Wasiu Taiwo’s fascinating designing outfit was inherited from his late father, Pa Taiwo, a famous Tailor in the 60s in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government and headquarters of Ogun West.
With great work and selfless humanitarian services, he was selected for the Chairman of Oronna Central Planning Committee, and during his tenure, “Oronna Civic Centre” was completed for the community and Yewa environs at large.

*Distinguish Leadership Award, in recognition of his philanthropic service to humanity, by Black Heritage International, Nigeria, 2014.
*Meritorious Award as Jagunmolu of Ogun State Tailors by TAN Ogun State Chapter.
*Thomas Sankara Leadership Award of Integrity & Transparency as Distinguished West African Personality of the Year 2017, in recognition of his hard work in Fashion World, Hotel Management & Hospitality and Youth Empowerment, by ECOWAS Youth Council.
*Distinguished Entrepreneur Award by Nigeria Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, Ogun State Chapter.

Otunba Wasiu Taiwo is the Aare Atunrase of Ilaro, and also Otunba Ajito of Jogaland.
He is the current National President of the Tailors Association of Nigeria (TAN).
Otunba Wasiu Jayeola Taiwo is married to Pastor (Mrs.) Bolanle Taiwo and the union is blessed with promising children.
