Wadoye, Wife Mourn Lateef Salami’s Death, Describe It A Deeply Painful Loss For Ilaro-Yewa, Ogun State

The Chairman and Chief Executive of Wadoye Express Ltd., Alhaji (Chief) Waidi Haruna, and his wife, Alhaja (Chief) Mrs. Memunat Haruna, have expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaji Lateef Adebayo Salami, the former Chairman of Yewa South Local Government in Ogun State. They described the news as both sad and painful.

In a message sent from the United Kingdom, through StarTrend Int’l magazine and online platform, Wadoye, as he is fondly known, expressed his heartfelt condolences to Salami’s family.

He reflected on the shock and sadness both he and his wife felt upon hearing the news of Salami’s untimely death.

Wadoye stated that Salami’s death came as a rude shock to him and his wife, describing it as an immense loss not only to the Ilaro-Yewa community, but to Ogun State and Nigeria as a whole.

He emphasized the former local government chairman’s humility, sincerity, and the unexpected nature of his death.

In his message, Wadoye said, “My wife and I still cannot believe the sad news because Alhaji Lateef Salami was such a humble and sincere person, and we never expected him to leave us so soon. He was a God-fearing man, and his death is devastating for both of us.”

As a devout Muslim, Wadoye invoked the Qur’anic verse “Inna Lilah Waina Ilehin Rojihunna” (“From Allah we come, and to Him we shall return”), acknowledging that no one can interfere with God’s plan. Despite the sorrow, he placed his trust in God’s will.

Wadoye extended his condolences to the mother, wife, children, and siblings of Alhaji Salami, offering comfort in the face of their irreplaceable loss.

He and his wife, as the Bobagunwa and Yeye Bobagunwa of Ilaro-Yewa, respectively, prayed for the deceased’s soul to rest in peace and for strength for his family to bear this great loss.

Alhaji (Hon.) Lateef Adebayo Salami died on Saturday, October 12, 2024, after a brief illness. His death has plunged the ancient town of Ilaro into mourning, with many reflecting on his contributions as a beloved public servant.

Salami’s impact in enhancing Yewa South local government and Ogun State will be remembered for years to come.
