Veteran Journalist Regina Aderemi Adebiyi Installed As Iyalode Of Ibese-Yewaland

IBESE, YEWA NORTH LG, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA –   In a colourful and culturally significant ceremony, Chief (Mrs.) Regina Aderemi Adebiyi JP, a seasoned journalist and News Editor with Ogun State Television (OGTV), was on Saturday, September 27, 2025, officially installed as the Iyalode of Ibese-Yewaland by His Royal Majesty, Oba Rotimi Oluseyi Mulero, the Abese of Ibeseland.

Speaking shortly after her installation at the palace, Chief (Mrs.) Adebiyi called on women across Ibese-Yewaland and Ogun West to unite in the service of their communities.

“We, the women and mothers of Ibese-Yewaland, and Ogun West must continue to work together to move our homestead to greater heights.

“This title is not just mine – it is for every woman who believes in progress, peace, and purposeful leadership in their respective communities,” she said.

Expressing deep gratitude, she added, “My unreserved gratitude goes to my maker, Jehovah God, who grants me the favour, wellbeing, and all that matters, to become the Iyalode of Ibese-Yewaland.”

She also appreciated the Abese of Ibeseland, the Council of Chiefs, and all who supported her career and personal journey.

The installation of Chief (Mrs.) Adebiyi as Iyalode – a revered traditional title for accomplished women of virtue, courage, and influence – marks a new era of women’s cultural leadership in Yewa North Local Government Area.

The grand ceremony attracted a distinguished gathering, including royal fathers such as HRM Oba (Dr.) Daniel Olayinka Salako, the Aboro of Iboro-Yewaland, and HRM Oba Mukaila Salako, the Adokun of Igan-Okoto.

Also present were Iyalodes from across Ogun State, Baales, industry leaders, media executives, and family members who came to celebrate her elevation.

Expressing her appreciation, Chief (Mrs.) Regina Aderemi Adebiyi JP said, “I am super grateful for the love shown to me during my installation ceremony as Iyalode of Ibeseland. Your moral and financial support, as well as your presence, made my day even more memorable.

“I am glad to have you all around me. Thank you for showering me with so much love. May the Almighty God replenish your pockets and cause us to continue rejoicing with one another.

“As you have celebrated with me, may you also be celebrated. May goodness never cease in your life, and may God continue to bless you abundantly.

“I am truly grateful. With love.”

Born in the early 1960s into the Tella family of Jagun’s Compound, Ibese-Yewaland, Chief (Mrs.) Regina Adebiyi’s life reflected a blend of Yoruba tradition, education, and professional distinction.

She attended U.A.M.C Primary School and Asakanran Grammar School, before earning her NCE in Yoruba and PES from the Federal College of Education, Osiele, Abeokuta.

Chief (Mrs.) Regina Adebiyi later obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Yoruba Education from the University of Ado-Ekiti and a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos.

Joining OGTV in 1994, she rose steadily through the ranks, becoming a respected News Editor known for her integrity and professionalism.

She also made history as the first woman from Ogun West to lead the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Ogun State chapter.

In her closing prayer, Iyalode Adebiyi declared, “May my time in this office bring progress, peaceful coexistence, and prosperity to Ibese-Yewaland and all her sons and daughters.”

Chief (Mrs.) Regina Adebiyi’s installation was widely celebrated as a milestone for women’s empowerment, cultural heritage, and purposeful leadership in Yewaland.
