…Says, “I Have Seen the Gains of Education, So I Advise Our Youths to Do Likewise”

ILARO-YEWA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – There is no better way for youths in Yewaland to appreciate and support the educational development efforts of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, than to embrace education and pursue it to meaningful heights.
This was the position of the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro (FPI), now Federal University of Technology, Ilaro (FUTI), Dr. M. A. Akinde, while speaking with members of the League of Yewa-Awori Media Practitioners (LOYAMP) on Saturday, November 15, 2025, during the Grand Finale of the 2025 Oronna Ilaro Festival.
Dr. Akinde emphasized that the senator representing Ogun-West at the 10th Senate believes very much in the influence of education in all strata, to which he has, and will continue to do his best.
”To encourage him to do more, and not render his efforts wasteful, is for the youths to develop great interest in education, and face their studies squarely”, the Rector advised.
Buttressing his point on Yayi’s love for education, Akinde reflected on the recent upgrading of the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro to Federal University of Technology, and attributed it to Yayi’s relentless efforts, adding that it is an indication that he means well for the teeming youths in Yewa.
”Education of nowadays needs more dedication and the youths must embrace it. If the youths neglect being educated, people from other places would flood the newly upgraded university. So, the youths of Yewaland must be part of the progress development, in order to let the university stand very well”, Akinde said.
Underscoring the importance of education, he stated that his social status as a doctorate degree holder and Rector of FPI was as a result of the level of education he received, adding, “I did my secondary schooling here in Ilaro, not knowing I would eventually become the Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro.
”This was made possible because I took education very seriously. I have seen the gains of education, so I advise our youths to do likewise”, he contended.
The Rector also described Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi as an all-round game changer, who, in his magnanimity to impact on the social lives of the people of Ilaro, transformed the famous Recreation Club, Ilaro to an ultra-modern clubhouse with state-of-the-art facilities.
The clubhouse was commissioned by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau, during the Grand Finale of the 2025 Oronna Ilaro Festival.
The FPI Rector Akinde commended Senator Adeola Yayi for giving the Recreation Club, Ilaro, a beautiful facelift, with modern facilities, the gesture that has given thousands of cheers to Senator Adeola Yayi for making history that can never be forgotten in the life span of Recreation Club of Ilaro.
Speaking on the Oronna Ilaro Festival, Dr Akinde said the festival had become a yearly historical celebration for the people of Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government of Ogun State, describing it as a moment of joy, as people from all walks of lives, and from far and near, join in the celebration
He called on sons and daughters of Ilaro to always look forward to the festival, cooperate, support and make meaningful contributions towards it, as, according to him, it showcases the cultural heritage of Ilaro community, adding that the state government can make use of it in their tourism programme of activities and also jack up its revenue.
”Oronna Ilaro Festival is now globally celebrated every November”, he proudly stated.
Shortly after the interview, members of the League of Yewa-Awori Media Practitioners (LOYAMP), led by the National Coordinator, El’hadj (Otunba) Abu-Satar Idowu Hamed – Otun Baaroyin of Ilaro-Yewa and Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of StarTrend Int’l magazine and online platform – presented a branded cap of the association to Dr. M. A. Akinde.
The gesture was accompanied by a formal declaration naming the Rector as one of the Patrons of LOYAMP.
Earlier, during the opening session of the interview, Otunba Abu-Satar Hamed, a veteran journalist and respected community leader, gave an overview of LOYAMP, describing it as a vibrant coalition of seasoned journalists, editors, and publishers from Ogun West who have made notable contributions to the media profession over the years.
“Formed as a melting pot of great ideas, LOYAMP is dedicated to promoting the collective interests of Yewa-Awori sons and daughters, both at home and in the diaspora”, he stated.
He further explained that beyond regional advocacy, the association is committed to advancing the development of Ogun State and contributing positively to the progress of Nigeria as a whole.
Otunba Hamed, who also serves as the group’s National Coordinator, stressed that LOYAMP upholds high ethical standards and opposes the use of foul language, divisive content, or any publication capable of breeding disunity or inciting legal conflicts on its members’ platforms.
“At its core,” he added, “LOYAMP is committed to uplifting Yewa-Awori personalities and supporting their aspirations toward positions of influence and leadership within Ogun State and beyond.”
He concluded with a message of unity and progress: “Together, we can achieve more – for the good of all!”
