UNIPGC-AFRICA To Honor Ikono Chairman With Commander Of Peace Award

LAGOS, NIGERIA – Plans are in top gear as the United International Peace and Governance Council (UNIPGC) prepares to honor the Chairman of Ikono Local Government Area, Engr. Oto-Obong Okon Essien, with the prestigious Commander of Peace (COP) Award.

UNIPGC-AFRICA operates as an integral part of the International Peace and Governance Council (IPGC), based in Atlanta, USA, and the Chartered Institute of Peace and Governance Inc. (CIPG), Texas, USA.

The organization is dedicated to promoting sustainable peace, good governance advocacy, and poverty eradication across the globe.

According to UNIPGC, the award ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Victoria Island, Lagos, during the 14th edition of the Pan-African Leadership Symposium and Honors.

Engr. Essien will be honored alongside other distinguished African leaders, including H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, President of Zanzibar.

The event will also witness full representation from four African regions: West Africa, Central Africa, East Africa, and Southern Africa.

While confirming her invitation to receive the award, Engr. Essien expressed deep appreciation to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, and the people of Ikono Local Government Area for the opportunity to serve.

She reaffirmed her commitment to sustaining peace in line with the A-R-I-S-E Agenda of the governor.
