LAGOS, NIGERIA – President Bola Tinubu honored Pastor Tunde Bakare, founder of Citadel Global Community Church, at his 70th birthday Thanksgiving Service, describing him as a man of faith and integrity whose impact on nation-building is profound.
Represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume, Tinubu noted Bakare’s commitment to unity and progress, calling him a beacon of hope for the Nigerian people.
Tinubu also acknowledged the hardships facing Nigerians and assured that his administration is working on long-term solutions to address these challenges.
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, praised Pastor Bakare as a trailblazer and a distinguished representative of Ogun State, whose influence extends far beyond Nigeria.
Abiodun emphasized Bakare’s dedication to national development and applauded his efforts to inspire positive change and advocate for a prosperous Nigeria.
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, lauded Pastor Bakare as a steadfast advocate for truth and a devoted servant of God. Sanwo-Olu highlighted Bakare’s unique role as a spiritual leader and a voice of integrity, recognizing him as a special vessel for God’s work in Nigeria.
In a sermon, Pastor Sarah Omakwu of the Family Worship Centre commended Bakare’s lifelong commitment to serving God and humanity. She described him as a compassionate mentor who has supported widows and orphans and influenced generations through his teachings.
Pastor Omakwu urged Bakare to consider succession planning to ensure the longevity of his legacy, emphasizing the importance of involving children in sustaining family endeavors.
In his address, Pastor Bakare attributed his success to the mentorship he received in his early years, both in academia and ministry. He expressed his hope for Nigeria’s future, urging citizens to contribute actively to the nation’s progress and development.
The celebration was attended by an array of eminent figures, including former governors, legislators, traditional rulers, industry leaders, and friends.
A highlight of the event was the launch of Bakare’s autobiography, “The Last. Definitely Not The Least,” which chronicles his life journey and accomplishments.
