BY OLOYE ‘LEKAN ALABI
Monday, February 19,2024, it will be exactly 35 years that my article of the above title was published in the Sunday Tribune newspaper.
The appreciation piece, as it were, was spurred by the unprecedented, at state or Federal levels, send-forth party held by the Military Governor of old Oyo State (present-day Oyo and Osun States), Brigadier-General Sasaenia Adedeji Oresanya (now late) for some departing members of the old Oyo State Executive Council, inherited by him, on taking over the old OYS administration, from Colonel Adetunji Idowu Olurin (also now late), on July 27, 1988.
Governor Oresanya, didn’t dissolve the inherited Olurin cabinet till February 1989, seven clear months after his (Oresanya) assumption of office.
How I pray new administrations at both state and Federal levels, emulate the civility of the late Governor Oresanya, rather than the usual “throw-away-everybody” policy Nigeria appears to be used to.
CAPTIONS.
