Suspected Kidnapper Confesses: “I Can’t Remember How Many Children We’ve Abducted For Rituals”

… Gang Leader Allegedly Based in Osogbo

A man in his 20s, suspected of being part of a child-kidnapping syndicate in Ilorin, Kwara State, made a chilling confession following his arrest on Friday, May 16, 2025.

He admitted that he could no longer remember the number of children his gang had abducted for ritual purposes.

The suspect was apprehended in the state capital after being caught by residents who accused him of child kidnapping.

Before law enforcement intervened, the suspect was nearly lynched by an enraged mob. A police team on routine patrol rescued him just in time, preventing what could have been a deadly case of jungle justice.

In a video that has since gone viral, the bruised suspect, visibly injured from the mob attack, revealed details about the criminal network.

He claimed their team leader lives in Dagbolu, a suburb of Osogbo, the capital of Osun State. He also disclosed the names of other gang members and confessed to receiving ₦10 million from the team leader to carry out child abductions.

The spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command, Adetoun Adetoun, confirmed the suspect’s arrest in a statement released in Ilorin.

She emphasized that the man is currently in custody and is undergoing interrogation as part of ongoing investigations.

Adetoun also issued a stern warning to the public against engaging in mob action. “Such acts are not only unlawful but can also result in the miscarriage of justice.

“Members of the public are strongly advised to report all suspicious activities to the nearest police station rather than resort to self-help or violence”, she said.

According to the statement, the suspect was apprehended around 7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2025, by a joint patrol team consisting of police operatives and community vigilante members during a routine operation. He was rescued from a violent crowd who had accused him of attempting to kidnap a child.

The suspect, who claimed to hail from Osun State, is being held as police continue efforts to verify his confession and uncover the identities of accomplices.

The police noted that while a video of the arrest is circulating widely, no official complainant has come forward to provide further information to aid the investigation.

“The complainant(s) involved are yet to report at command headquarters to provide more information to aid police detectives in unraveling this incident,” the statement added.

The command assured that further updates will be made available as investigations progress.
