State Allocations Have Tripled Since Fuel Subsidy Removal – President Tinubu

…Says, “Fuel Subsidy Removal: A Bold But Necessary Reform”

FCT, ABUJA, NIGERIA – President Bola Tinubu has declared that every governor in Nigeria can attest to a significant increase in state allocations following the removal of fuel subsidies.

Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Caucus meeting at the State House Conference Center, Abuja, on Tuesday night of February 25, 2025, Tinubu emphasized that the decision was necessary for the country’s financial stability.

Addressing party members, Tinubu acknowledged the difficulty of implementing such a policy but insisted that Nigeria could not have survived under the heavy financial burden of fuel subsidies.

“It is a daunting challenge. The policies are difficult, but there was no way Nigeria would have survived with the burden of fuel subsidies. Today, I can beat my chest and say that each governor here knows that their allocations to the states have tripled. We have enough funding for the local governments”, he stated.

Despite criticism from opposition groups, the President assured Nigerians that his administration remains focused on achieving national development goals.

He reiterated his determination to bring about meaningful change rather than engaging in political distractions.

“Our determination to deliver is unshaken despite the cacophony of misguided, unfounded, and gloomy claims made by our detractors. They will continue to talk, but we are extremely focused”, Tinubu affirmed.

While acknowledging the short-term challenges posed by economic reforms such as the subsidy removal, Tinubu stressed that these policies were essential for the country’s long-term stability.

He maintained that state governments now receive increased financial resources, empowering them to execute developmental projects more effectively.

By implementing these reforms, the administration aims to strengthen economic resilience, enhance governance at all levels, and create a sustainable financial future for Nigeria.
