IJEBU-ODE – Over 2000 youths in Ijebu-Ode Local Government have been enlisted to undergo a two-week intensive training on divers skills acquisition.
The programme which was organized by Necessary Measures Against Poverty and Perversity (NMAPP) in collaboration with Ijebu-Ode Local Government on various skills acquisition was meant to make the youths self-reliant and less-dependent on the government.
Different vocations in which the youths will be trained include, bead making, catering, paint production, make-up, tailoring, hair dressing and others, at the Local Government Council in Ijebu-Ode.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony acquisition programme, the Transition Chairman Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Engr Olugbenga Olugbile said the programme was to prepare the youths to be self-reliant to adequately face the future as the leaders of tomorrow.
“The partnership of Necessary Measures Against Poverty and Perversity (NMAPP) in this area of livelihoods support will help to go a long way to further equip more people in using their hands and talents to earn income for themselves”, said Olugbile.
He also advised the participants to take advantage of the opportunity by being serious and and ensure succeeds.
The Coordinator of NMAPP, Princess Oluwagbemisola Ajetunmobi said the participants should count themselves lucky to be part of the empowerment programmes as it would change their lives for better as it would enable them to earn income through their handiwork.
One of the beneficiaries, Miss Oreoluwa Adekoya, expressed delight at the opportunity which she described a good initiative from the Council Boss that would help alleviate joblessness and poverty among the youths.
