ILARO-YEWA: Amidst fears that the arbitrary hike in the prices of basic items for protecting individuals against the spread of the coronavirus is putting such items, especially sanitizers beyond the reach of the masses, the gesture by Hon. (Mrs.) Lateefat Bolanle Ajayi, the Honourable member, representing Yewa South State Constituency at the Ogun State House of Assembly has been praised for bringing succour to the people of her Constituency.

The encomiums came on Tuesday, March 31, 2020 as Hon (Mrs.) Ajayi distributed hand sanitizer to market women and men at Sayedero Market, Ilaro-Yewa, the headquarters of Ogun West, to fight against the dreaded coronavirus pandemic.

Alhaja (Chief) Mrs. Risikat Idowu, the Iyaloja of Ilaro who led the encomiums while fielding questions from StarTrend Int’l magazine when the crew of Hon. Lateefat Ajayi Foundation, led by Mr. Seun Amusan Ara visited the market also commended her for the responsibility shown in distributing a quantum of the sanitizers among the traders, market women and men of Sayedero Market in Ilaro-Yewa.

The community leader was of the opinion that no politician, individual or corporate body had ever thought of providing market women/men with preventing materials against the dreaded coronavirus now ravaging the world, including Nigeria.

The Iyaloja of Ilaro, advised the lawmaker to continue to give priority to the poor-masses in her programmes, praying that God will continue to guide and protect her.

In his comment, the branch chairman Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Alhaji Rasheed Ibiyemi said the union was grateful to the lawmaker for remembering them at this trying period.

He disclosed that the hand sanitizers given to them would be shared amongst the drivers in that branch, saying that passengers would also benefit from the products.

“The hand sanitizer is a blessing to us and our passengers. Both the drivers and commuters will now have to rub their hands with the product before they enter any vehicle in this garage.

“I want to use this medium to thank Hon. (Mrs.) Lateefat Ajayi for the gifts. May God continue to bless her and her family.”

Some beneficiaries of the hand sanitizer at the market, including Mrs. Elizabeth and Mrs. Onajobi, both traders at Sayedero Market expressed their happiness for being beneficiaries of the product which according to them is very scarce to buy in the market.

They send their appreciation to Hon. (Mrs.) Ajayi for putting Sayedero Market traders at heart, adding that forever they will be grateful to the lawmaker.

Other beneficiaries at the market prayed for the lawmaker that she will continue to go from strength to strength.

“Because we did not expect this, but in her magnanimity, Hon. (Mrs.) Ajayi has remembered us and it’s our prayers that she will not fall sick and she will continue to move higher in life.”

Mr. Aderibigbe who came to the market to purchase some food items for his family was full of joy that he got a bottle of hand sanitizer for his protection and family.

“I’m happy that I was able to get free hand sanitizer for our family, courtesy of Hon. (Mrs.) Ajayi. I want to urge her to continue to remember the poor masses.

He encouraged her not to stop the safety campaign against the coronavirus she has started, praying that God will continue to lead her rightly.

Earlier in the day, the team also visited a group of visuallyimpaired people in Ilaro-Yewa metropolis.

The chairman of the visuallyimpaired people in the area, Mr. Makinde Mulero Sunday thanked the lawmaker, saying, “we are indeed very happy that the lawmaker didn’t only recognized us, but gave us some bottles of hand sanitizers, including money to take care of ourselves and stay safe.

“We sincerely appreciate this good gesture from our honourable lawmaker. May the good Lord continue to watch her back and that of her family.

“We also use this medium to remember those who have been kind to us, and in the name of Jesus Christ, all those that are taking good care of the blind people shall never go blind.”
