Senator Natasha Donates 700 Computers to Kogi School, Promises More Interventions, Emphasizes Importance Of Digital Learning

…Says, “More Schools Across Kogi Central to Benefit”

OKENE, KOGI STATE, NIGERIA – In a bold initiative to boost digital education in Kogi State, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has donated 700 computers to Abdul Azeez Attah Memorial College (AAAMCO) in Okene – one of the Northern Nigeria’s oldest and most prestigious secondary schools.

The donation is part of the senator’s broader vision to modernize public education and equip students with the digital skills needed to succeed in today’s tech-driven world.

Speaking at the official handover ceremony, Senator Natasha Akpoti underscored the need for Nigerian schools to align with global trends in digital education.

“To educate a mind is to enlighten a mind, and enlightened minds build strong societies and economies,” she said. “With the rise of artificial intelligence and robotics, denying our children access to modern technology is a disservice.”

Senator Natasha also disclosed that this intervention would soon extend to other public schools in Kogi Central, stressing that digital access in education should be a basic right, just like it is in countries such as Rwanda and Ghana.

The Ohi of Okene, HRH Alhaji Okatahi Mamman, described the donation as a visionary step and called on students to use the new resources responsibly.

“This is a forward-thinking investment in our future,” the royal father remarked.

Also present at the event, Mr. Paul Amoh, Principal of AAAMCO, expressed heartfelt appreciation, noting that the school had already benefited from the senator’s prior interventions, including a one-kilometer internal road, renovated classrooms, and solar-powered streetlights.

“She is not just giving us devices, she is giving us a future,” he said. “This is a major leap toward becoming a fully smart school.”

Engr. Yusuf Momohjimoh, National Secretary of the school’s Old Boys Forum, also praised the gesture, describing it as a catalyst for both educational and community development.

He assured that the alumni would take steps to safeguard and maintain the devices.

“This is about more than just computers. It’s about preparing our children and our community for the future,” he said.

Founded in the 1920s, AAAMCO has a rich history and has produced many notable alumni, including former Military President General Ibrahim Babangida, among others.
